You are invited to attend Youth Mental Health First Aid, a training to be held on both September 25 & 26, 2014 at our NEW location in Old Brooklyn. Both days run from 9:00 AM - 1:30 PM at 4269 Pearl Rd., Cleveland, OH 44109.
It is designed for adults who regularly interact with youth, (but may also be appropriate for older adolescents - 16 and older), to encourage peer to peer interaction and support. Its designed for anyone who regularly engages with youth - teachers, athletic coaches, guidance counselors, youth group advisors, mentors, juvenile justice professionals - all will find the course content useful.
Participants will learn:
- The potential risk factors and warning signs for a range of mental illnesses common among youth including: anxiety, depression, psychosis, eating disorders, ADD, ADHD, disruptive behavior disorders, and substance use disorders;
- A five-step action plan encompassing the skills and knowledge to help an individual in crisis connect with appropriate professional care;
- An understanding of professional, peer, social and self-help resources available to help a youth experiencing symptoms of mental illness.
