Richard F. Sperling once was an accomplished and vigorous business and real estate litigator. His clients  included Transamerica Title, Safeco Insurance, Gonzaga  University, Porsche-Audi, Coldwell Banker, and TourFactory.   In 2001, he returned to the law after a brief retirement and established a family law practice.

Richard's  work  includes  private  judging  and  mediation.  His  areas  of  focus  are  premarital agreements, cooperative divorce, and crossover issues which arise at the intersection of family law matters and estate planning.

Richard taught business law at his alma mater, Cal State Univ. Northridge.   He now teaches negotiation  and  mediation  at  Antioch   University  in  Santa  Barbara,  and  family  law  and collaborative law at the So. Cal. Inst. of Law in Ventura.  Richard enjoys sailing and old movies, and he intends to find time to play tennis and golf.

Jeffrey M. Sydney has been an attorney in California for more than 30 years. He is a Certified Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust  and Probate Law, Certified  by the State  Bar of California. He has a JD degree from Stanford University Law School, a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the University of Southern  California, and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree from  Columbia  University.  He  is a  member  of  WealthCounsel,  the  WealthCounsel  Advisors Forum and the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys.

Jeff's decision to focus on Estate Planning and Elder Law was initially based on experiencing first-hand how Elder Law and estate issues impacted his own family. Jeff takes a very personal approach to the practice of law. He devotes a significant portion of every initial consultation to asking questions which enable him to get to know a client or family so he can provide exceptional service.

Jeff is a long-time resident of the San Fernando Valley. He is married, and has two children. His hobbies include flying (he is a licensed private pilot), model railroading, and attempting to master the impossible game of golf.

Darren Goodman grew up in Woodland Hills, California.  He earned a B. A. in Sociology from the University of California San Diego and a Juris Doctor from Pepperdine University School of Law.  Darren  is  a  recognized expert  in retirement  asset  planning and  distribution in  divorce contexts, a frequent seminar speaker, and a valued contributor to family law journals  and other publications.

Before founding his law practice in 1997, Darren spent over five years working as an Employee Benefits/Pension  consultant  and  attorney  in  Los Angeles.   He worked  with  every  variety  of defined benefit and defined contribution plan.  He was responsible for drafting plan documents and  amendments, submitting plans to the  IRS for  determination  letters,  curing plan  defects through IRS correction programs, conducting plan audits to ensure ERISA and IRS compliance, and "qualifying" domestic relations orders on behalf of plan administrators. Darren's expertise in QDRO language, procedures, and compliance reflects his knowledge of the ongoing changes in tax laws and court cases dealing with retirement plans.

Darren enjoys photography, travel, and playing tennis and guitar, He lives in Thousand Oaks with his wife, Miriam, an avid artist and spiritual director, and two daughters. He says if he was not an attorney, he would be writing comedy (no joke).
