"Patient Education in the Age of Health Care Reform"

Lane Stiles, MA, is Director of Patient Education for Vanderbilt University Medical Center.  He is responsible for all aspects of patient education across the clinical enterprise.  His work also involves initiatives related to health literacy, translation, patient engagement, and shared decision-making. Before coming to Vanderbilt last year, Lane spent 15 years in a similar position with Fairview Health Services, a Minnesota-based integrated care system that includes the University of Minnesota hospitals. While in Minnesota, Lane helped to found the Minnesota Health Literacy Partnership and had leadership roles at the Minnesota Alliance for Patient Safety and several other statewide collaboratives.
