Tour of the new Quad Cities Heavy Lift Crane and Crane Barge
The Rock Island Post and ASCE Quad Cities Chapter will be touring the Quad Cities new Heavy Lift Crane and Crane Barge. Rock Island District’s Mississippi River Project staff will provide a technical tour of the new Quad Cities Heavy Lift Crane and crane barge. This $30 million platform was designed by the Corps of Engineers’ Marine Design Center and built by Conrad Shipyard in Louisiana. Its main hook is capable of lifting more than 1 million pounds, and it can handle even the heaviest gates on any Lock & Dam Project within the entire Mississippi Valley. The tour will include visits to the crane’s gantry platform, engine/generator room, control room, and also below deck to explore the fuel, water, spud, and ballast systems.
The tour will begin at 11:30 am we recommend everyone to be at River Heritage Park in Davenport at 11:15
