Crowd Funding and Traditional Lending for Small Business

Please join the Monte Ahuja College of Business Small Business Development Center, the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law and Shaker Launchhouse for this noteworthy program held at the innovative Shaker Launchhouse.

This dynamic presentation will give an overview of the current state of traditional lending and crowd funding for small business as well as the different types of funding available, how it works and small business success stories.

Mike Hawkins , Chief Technology Officer, SoMoLend
Hawkins

As SoMoLend’s Chief Technology Officer, Mike, is responsible for all aspects of product development. His responsibilities include product management, research and development, quality assurance, infrastructure and technical strategy. He has 16 years of software engineering and product management experience in startups and new product development in financial services, healthcare and education. He previously designed and developed cross platform systems and services for Schwab.com, SchwabPlan.com and the back-end systems from the brokerage and retirement planning units to support client assets and investor accounts.

While at GE Healthcare, Mike led product management for new product innovation and product strategy for the Dynamic Imaging Solutions division.

Mike is the lead author of four patents in the areas of adaptive workflow, resource prioritization and user experience.

Kate Kerr, Government Lending Specialist, Fifth Third Bank
Kerr

Kate Kerr is Fifth Third Bank’s Government Lending specialist, a position she has held for the last ten years. Government lending programs usually are long term commitments by the Bank and the government partner such as the SBA/USDA/State and County.

Ms. Kerr has over 20 years experience in commercial lending with companies located both in Northeast Ohio and nationwide. Real estate, equipment, acquisition and working capital loans are her specialty.

Kate received her undergraduate degree from the University of Cincinnati and a Masters Degree from Case Western Reserve University.
