Pope Francis challenges us with a vision of Church that is comprised of "communities of missionary disciples" who go forth in JOY to share the good news of God's love.  This requires a Church that is willing to take on the "smell of the sheep" which isn't afraid of getting "bruised, hurting and dirty because it has been on out on the streets."  (Evangelii Gaudium)
What is the role of the deacon community in helping to form and support this kind of a Church?
From the beginning, the diaconate has been called to be a major force for mission.  Today, more than ever, from the parish to the ends of earth, people hunger for the Good News of God's love.  Deacons and wives through their example of service are at the forefront of evangelization.

Join us for a weekend conference to reflect on the missionary spirit and heart of the deacon and wife, and to explore how the diaconate can better become a driving force for mission at home and to the ends of the earth.  Gather with eminent theologian and missiologist, Fr. Roger Schroeder and other deacons and wives who share a passion for mission.
