Are you intrigued and inspired by these ideas? Are you a young person in the Battle Creek area who will be entering grades 9-12? If so, we invite you to join us at our annual youth retreat. This summer, we will be using the film The Hunger Games as a lens to critically examine these themes in our own society and learn how to take action.
When:
August 20 – 6-9 p.m. Dinner and a movie at First Congregational Church, meet other youth and adult mentors, receive camp t-shirts.
August 21-22 – 9:00 a.m. Monday – 5:00 p.m. Tuesday. Overnight retreat at Sherman Lake, including workshops, meals, and activities like swimming, basketball, volleyball and a campfire.
Where:
Sunday: First Congregational Church, 145 Capital Ave NE, Battle Creek
Monday & Tuesday: We will be meeting in front of the Roll Building at KCC, 450 North Ave., Battle Creek at 8:45 on Monday, August 21, to leave for Sherman Lake YMCA. Pickup is in the same location at KCC on Tuesday, August 22, at 5:00 p.m. (Participants may leave cars parked overnight at KCC if needed.)
Cost:
The youth retreat is $40 and includes meals, overnight stay, and a t-shirt. Payment is due on or before Sunday, August 20. Checks can be made out to Kellogg Community College; payment in cash is also accepted. We also accept PayPal at the time of registration. We offer scholarships, so please do not let cost be a barrier.
