Integrating Critical Race and Anti-Colonial Theories: An Anti-Racist Practice Approach with Children and Families from Equity Seeking Communities
Presented by: Siham Elkassem, PhD(c), RSW and Andrea Murray-Lichtman, PhD(c), LCSW
In this workshop practitioners will learn how to integrate Critical Race and Anti-Colonial theories into practice and service provision for children and families from equity seeking communities.
Learning Objectives:
1. Describe the historical and contemporary impact of racism, white supremacy and coloniality upon racialized and indigenous communities
2. Explore health inequities and the subsequent ethical mandate (medicine, psychiatry, SW, nursing etc.) to dismantle racism, white supremacy and coloniality in practice and service provision.
3. Utilize and apply a Critical Race and Anti-Colonial approach to practice and service provision with racialized children and families seeking developmental and mental health services.
