2018 Government Financial Manager Training Tuesday, November 13 to Thursday, November 15, 2018 from 8:30 am to 4:30 PM (NEW DATE)
At a cost that can be as low as $9.38 per credit hour, this course offers a financial benefit for CPE to your organization! It includes training for one of the three examinations for the Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM) certification. These courses are designed to prepare candidates to sit for the CGFM examinations.
This training is an excellent opportunity to earn up to 24 hours of continuing professional education credits for those who are planning to sit for the examinations. Those who may not be taking the examination but are looking for CPE credits are welcome and are encouraged to register. Please Note: A maximum of 35 participants will be permitted to register for this training so register early to ensure your seat! Information on the courses and instructor is detailed below.
Course 2 - Governmental Accounting, Financial Reporting and Budgeting (24 hours)
This course covers the general principles of governmental accounting, financial reporting and budgeting. It also covers the unique aspects of accounting and reporting for the federal government as well as state and local governments. It is designed for accountants, auditors, budget professionals and controllers in government as well as academics and other professionals who have an interest in government. It is particularly appropriate for newly hired professionals.

Training Instructor - Mark Mitchell, MBA, CIA, CGFM, CRMA
Mark Mitchell has been an internal audit executive for over 20 years at various New York State Agencies. He was previously a Director of Internal Audit at KPMG LLP, in Albany, NY, where he provided internal audit services to clients in state government and the not-for-profit sector. Before entering the field of internal auditing, Mark was a Regional Finance and Administration manager for PTC, where he successfully managed the fiscal, administrative and budgeting for an eleven-state region of the United States. His career began when he worked in the Controller's Department at the World Bank, in Washington, DC.
Mark also has extensive association experience, especially with AGA. He has won numerous chapter and national awards and continues to serves as an active member and board officer of the New York Capital Chapter of AGA, in Albany, New York. Mark is also a menber of the AGA Journal editorial board and the Accountability Work Group.
Mark has taught and spoken about internal controls, internal auditing, governmental accounting and financial management throughout the U.S. to federal, state, and local accountability professionals. He has been a Certified Government Financial Manager instructor for AGA for several years and is an adjunct professor at Rockefeller College, where he teaches govermental accounting.
Mark has his bachelors of business administration degree in accounting, and an M.B.A. in finance and investments, both from The George Washington University, located in our nation's capital. He is a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), a Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM), and has his Certification in Risk Management Assurance (CRMA). Mark lives in the Capital Region of upstate New York.
NOTE: CGFM study guides will be included in the cost of each course. Additional application requirements and fees apply for individuals to sit for the CGFM examinations.
