Uptown Day of Service

Join your friends and neighbors for a day of volunteering with some of Uptown's wonderful nonprofit organizations. You'll serve a meal to our community's hungry, mentor youth working with technology, spruce up our recycling center, and more! Then, join other volunteers and hosts for a great time at Crew Bar + Grill. It's an event you won't want to miss!

Volunteering Options and Details:

Alternatives :  Alternatives is a comprehensive, multi-cultural youth development agency serving more than 3,000 young people and their families each year.  You'll work with teens in a technology training program, mentoring and helping them prepare presentations on social media.

Cornerstone Community Outreach: Cornerstone offers shelter and services to homeless and low-income families and individuals through a variety of programs.  You'll have an option to prepare and serve lunch for shelter residents, or organize donations of toiletries and other goods that Cornerstone provides to clients.

Inspiration CorporationIn an atmosphere of dignity and respect, Inspiration Corporation helps people who are affected by homelessness and poverty to improve their lives and increase self-sufficiency through the provision of social services, employment training and placement, and housing.  Make bag lunches to be distributed to clients of Inspiration Cafe.

Japanese American Service Committee : The Japanese American Service Committee of Chicago provides much needed social services to people of all ages, ethnicities and economic means while working to preserve and raise awareness of Japanese American culture and heritage.  You'll paint and clean the organization's front lobby, providing a more welcoming space for clients and guests.

2 Lil’ Fishes:  2 Li'l Fishes grew out of a long-term meals program run by the Peoples Church of Chicago, and works to help our neighbors in need, without fanfare, frills or formality.  Come help prepare and serve lunch to the kitchen's guests.

Resource Center :  For 35 years, the Resource Center, a non-profit environmental education organization, has led the way in demonstrating innovative techniques for recycling and reusing materials. At the Uptown recycling drop off center, work on painting and cleanup projects.
