Reproductive and Sexual Coercion in the Latina Community
Crossing Borders is pleased to announce Regional Advocacy Trainings with Patricia Flores and Leah Holland from the WA Coalition of Sexual Assault Programs and Ankita Patel and Paola Morinigo from the WA State Coalition Against Domestic Violence.
Bilingual or bicultural advocates and those working with immigrant survivors often encounter individuals whose lives are affected by sexual coercion and violence. In addition, women and teens (especially those in abusive relationships) may not have the freedom and safety to make their own decisions about having children and other aspects of reproductive health. This interactive workshop offers exciting new resources and strategies for working with survivors and system partners (such as healthcare providers and child support prosecutors) to address sexual and reproductive coercion in a culturally informed manner.
Morning Session - Training on sexual and reproductive coercion.
Afternoon Session - Facilitated discussion on a number of advocacy topics, including deeping our discussion on sexual violence in the Latino community, advocacy tips about working with immigrant survivors of abuse; and additional legal advocacy topics that YOU want to talk about.
A limited number of mileage reimbursement travel scholarships for DV/SA advocates are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Email Paola (paola@wscadv.org) with the number of people attending and the approximate number of roundtrip miles you need.
