Saulo Ribeiro was born in Manaus, Brazil and started training in Jiu Jitsu when he was only 15 years old as a way to complement his Judo game. He was awarded his black belt at Gracie Humaitá in Brazil under the famous Royler Gracie.

In 2005 he founded the University of Jiu Jitsu in San Diego, where he continues to share his knowledge of not only Jiu Jitsu but also "Bushido" a traditional view of the martial arts way of life focusing not only on the technical aspects of the Jiu Jitsu but also the core values that are the base of any martial art such as attitude, dedication, respect, family, loyalty and honor.
