The Department of Labor Exempt wage rate change is forcing businesses to see what they have been doing incorrectly for years. Getting existing employees in line with the new exempt rate or non-exempt hourly pay is simple math. Writing/Rewriting handbooks and benefit plans, correcting current misclassifications, and dealing with the reclassification of existing employees to non-exempt are the bigger and potentially more costly issues.
