Musical Theater & Acting Classes

 

NEW TWO SEPARATE AGE GROUPS! 

Our Musical Theater & Acting program offers exciting opportunities for young performers to explore their interests and abilities as singers, actors, and dancers. No previous experience is required! Rehearsals are high-engery and fun! ALL classes culminate in a performance at the end of the term.

Grades 2 - 4

Two 8-week classes to choose from:

Kids Musical Theater Class, Kids Acting Class....or take BOTH!

 

Grades 5 - 9

Choose from 2 Performing Troupes:

SNJ Musical Theater Company, SNJ Acting Company, or join BOTH!

 

Kids Musical Theater Class (Grades 2-4)

Take the stage and sing and dance your way into the world of musical theater! Our Kids Musical Theater Class will use popular songs from musical theater combined with singing and movement activities designed to develop skills and help each student sing and perform with confidence and joy - all while working as a team toward the final staged showcase performance on November 30th.

Kids Acting Class (Grades 2-4)

Kids Acting Class will explore the basics of acting through fun, fast-paced theater games, improvisation, and scene work. Students will learn about character development, ensemble-making and more, as they work toward the staged showcase performance on November 30th.

SNJ Musical Theater Company (Grades 5-9)

SNJ Musical Theater Company rehearsals will focus on more advanced singing technique and what it means to really polish and perform a musical number on stage. During the fall semester, the SNJ Musical Theater Company will learn a Broadway-style musical review, including solos, group numbers, staging, costuming, and choreography. The fall semester will culminate in a final showcase on November 30. The SNJ Musical Theater Compnay will also be featured performers at the SNJ Studio Winter Concert on December 3.

SNJ Acting Company (Grades 5-9)

What makes a good actor great? The SNJ Acting Company rehearsals will focus on honing the skills and techniques in the actor's tool bag by mixing and building upon all core elements of theater - improvisation, character development, ensemble-making, intention, discipline, vocalization, movement, and creativity. The semester will culminate in a staged, costumed performance on Novermber 30th.
