In this highly interactive session, marketing expert and consultant Ed Fones will provide you with the framework and specific tactics you can use to grow your donor base. Whether you’re a one-person department or have an outside agency to help execute your marketing, you’ll gain valuable insights that you can put into practice as soon as you return to the office.
Participants are encouraged to provide specific questions and challenges (as they relate to donor acquisition) they face prior to the session. These can be submit through your event registration. Ed will address as many of these during the session as possible.

Edward Fones is President of Fones Consulting & Digital Marketing and has been a leader in the publishing and direct marketing business for over 40 years. He currently helps a wide variety of clients in the areas of overall marketing strategy and improving profitability, audience development, email marketing, maximizing website e-commerce, membership marketing, fundraising, creative development, lifetime value analysis, database marketing, international expansion, and web strategy. Some of his current and former clients include Trout Unlimited, Woods Hole Oceanographic, Consumer Reports, National Geographic Society, The New England Journal of Medicine, The Harvard Business Review and many others.
Prior to launching his own consulting firm, Edward Fones was at Rodale Inc, where he held positions as the Senior Vice President, Managing Director & Worldwide Publisher for the Men’s Health Group. Ed also served as the Vice President, General Manager for Men’s Health and created one of the most profitable and successful magazine websites in the industry. As Vice President, GM he executed one of the most successful international expansions of any magazine, building an $80 million business with 26 editions in 33 countries. Prior to his roles on Men’s Health, Ed was Vice President Consumer Marketing for all Rodale Inc. titles.
In January 1999, Ed was the youngest member to be inducted into the DMA Consumer Marketing Hall of Fame. He has served as Chairman of the Direct Marketing Association’s Circulation Council and was named to Capell’s Circulation Report’s “Dream Masthead” for 1991, 1992, 1993, and 1995. He is a former member of the Board of Directors of the Allentown YMCA and a current member of the Wildlands Conservancy Board of Directors and Development Committee.
Ed has completed four full Ironman triathlons and is currently in the process of summiting all 46 peaks that are over 4,000 feet in the Adirondacks.
