Chicago History Museum River Cruise
May 29, 2015

Only a handful of places in time – Florence at the dawn of the Renaissance, perhaps Lisbon in the Age of Discovery – can rival Chicago in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. No urban center since the Middle Ages so decisively shaped the cultural and commercial trajetory of an epoch. “The other places do not count,” wrote Kipling, “I have struck a city – a real city – and they call it Chicago.”

Come join GSC for a fun afternoon on the Chicago River!
Chicago’s oldest museum – the Chicago History Museum – will lead the 3 p.m. river cruise: For 90 minutes both history and design buffs alike will enjoy many “I did not know that” moments as our docent shares Chicago’s story, including its 6-year transformation from a city without a recognizable landmark to center of world architecture. The river cruise also includes complimentary Starbuck’s Coffee, Coca-Cola soft drinks, lemonade, cookies and muffins.

Following the river cruise (starting at 5 p.m.), we’ll enjoy all-you-can-eat pizza, flatbreads and beverages (cash bar for alcohol) at the GSC Annual Meeting at Pinstripes, 435 E. Illinois St, Chicago, IL 60611.

This event is open to all. Can't make the entire event? Register for just the river cruise, or register to meet up with us after at Pinstripes!
