Art, Movement and Touch: Creative Ways to Promote Delight in Early Relationships

We have created a dynamic and innovative workshop for you at a lovely retreat center at Enders Island at the end of Mason Island Road in Mystic, CT.  Click here to see Enders Island  This exciting workshop will be held on Monday, May 18, 2015 from 8:30am to 2:00pm.  Lunch will be provided.  The fee for members is $35 and the fee for non-members is $60.

We have planned the workshop with nurturing you in mind.  We also believe you will learn about resources for you and for families that can bring fun and delight to those early and critical relationships – keeping attachment in mind.  Please register early because capacity is limited to 40 persons.

Presentations:

Three people working in infant mental health related areas will talk about their approaches with care givers and infants and toddlers using art, touch and movement.


Heather Bonitz-Moore, ATR-BC, LPC, IMH-E®

Topic:  Art as a Theraputic Connection

Heather Bonitz Moore is a Board Certified Registered Art Therapist, a Licensed Professional Counselor, and an Endorsed Clinical Mental Health Mentor.  She has extensive experience in providing home based and outpatient mental health services for children birth though age 8 and their families.  Heather has also provided numerous trainings on early childhood mental health topics, trauma, and art therapy throughout the state of CT and has most recently been involved with creating an online training curriculum with Child First.  She has facilitated Reflective Supervision and Consultation groups with DCF Social workers, Early Head Start staff, Birth to Three staff, and clinicians.  Heather is currently employed as the Director of Early Childhood Services at United Community and Family Services and also has a small private practice.  


 

 Dale Saul, PhD, IMH-E®

Topic:  Using Family Yoga to Promote Attachment

Dale Saul is an infant mental health consultant with Family-Based Recovery--in-home treatment throughout the state for substance-involved families--and Early Head Start. She specializes in the therapeutic use of yoga play and infant massage for families, and mindfulness practices for in-home providers.


Ashley Holmberg, MS, RPT, GCFP, Certified Child'Space Parent Educator

Topic:  The Child'Space Method - Supporting Development and Attachment Through Mindful Touch, Transitions, and Movement

Ashley Holmberg works as a pediatric Physical Therapist in southeastern CT in schools and clinical settings with children of all ages. She completed the Child’Space Method certification training program in October 2014 and works as a parent educator providing Child’Space classes and individual sessions. The Child’Space Method is a unique program for infants and their parents/caregivers, which supports motor development as well as social, emotional and cognitive growth through movement, touch and song. Child’Space emphasizes the importance of touch, which is a baby’s first language; respects a child’s pace and creates an environment allowing a   baby to learn through playful exploration. The Child’Space training program, which includes 300 hours of theoretical and practical training, was developed by Chava Shelhav, PhD and is based on theories of Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais.  Ashley also completed the Feldenkrais Method̉ Training Program at the Feldenkrais Institute in New York City and became a Guild Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner in 2006.
