The Center for Enamel Art is happy to present the 3rd Radical Enameling Workshop of 2015. This workshop with premier enamel painter, Helen Elliott, takes place at KVO Industries in Santa Rosa, CA. Participants will experience the unique opportunity to work in a highly organized facility. KVO Industries* works with artists using industrial enameling materials to create art in a very large, state-of-the-art furnace.
This workshop is about starting where you are so that no one is intimidated by scale.
We will work on heavy gauge pre-coated enameling steel as well as thin whiteboard. In addition to the Thompson (intermixable water based enamels), we will also be using other industrial materials such as oil-based screening pastes or inks, as well as overglaze and underglaze materials. A variety of brushes and personal mark-making tools can create realistic and abstract imagery through drawing, painting, stenciling, sgraffito and sifting. By abrading the enameled surface layer, imagery from beneath is revealed to create additional information.
No previous enameling experience necessary.
