Get Organized Using Free Software

Jan will show you how to take a project, break it down into manageable tasks, and schedule the tasks using the free software, Trello. The concept stays the same, whichever software you decide to use. Your project could be setting up a marketing plan with social media, a plan to get funding, or just a plan to get your week organized so you don’t miss something important. Whatever the project, the method is to break it into tasks, set it up in the software, and get the daily notifications of what needs to be completed.

Before the workshop: Please create a Trello account and a coggle.it account. Be ready to access and play with the software in class. Both of these are free resources.

You will learn:
Basic Project Development Vocabulary
How to set up and use a Trello Board for each project you are working with.
How to combine Trello with your daily calendar
How to deconstruct a major project into smaller, doable tasks
How to schedule tasks for the most productive time of day
How to use mind mapping to brainstorm ideas and schedule tasks from those ideas.
How to delegate tasks and check on progress
How to insert a checklist into each task scheduled.
How to do a weekly task review with colleagues, or if you are a loner, with a champion
How to keep an ongoing list of tasks to draw from so that you never forget the important things again.
