Who:  Homeschoolers, Grades Pre K(age 4/5) through 12^th  

Cost: Non-refundable fee of $5 per student, max $25 per family

Volunteers: To ensure we can provide this event in the most effective way possible, we need volunteers. This is where you come in; please consider being a volunteer. JA provides all materials and training. All children of parent volunteers who teach a class (regardless of what age level taught) will attend this event for free! JA Volunteer training will be held on Thursday, June 6^th from 2-3:30 PM. If you would like to volunteer for this opportunity, please answer "yes" when prompted on the registration form. If you are unable to volunteer, please consider asking your spouse, relatives, friends, or because of the focus on business and careers, anyone you know that has a passion for their job and would love to share it with students. We are always looking for enthusiastic volunteers.

Curriculum:
Programs will be available based on registration and volunteer participation. Below is a brief overview of each grade level's curriculum:

Pre-K - Our Place uses hands on activities to demonstrate cooperation and the ability to demonstrate the steps needed in producing a simple product.

K - Ourselves uses compelling stories read aloud by the volunteer, along with hands-on activities, to demonstrate helping, working, earning, and saving. 

1st - JA Our Families emphasizes the roles people play in the local economy and engages students with activities about needs, wants, jobs, tools and skills, and interdependence.

2nd - JA Our Community explores the interdependent roles of workers in a community, the work they perform, and how communities work.

3rd - JA Our City studies careers, the skills people need to work in specific careers, and how businesses contribute to a city.  

4th - JA Our Region introduces the important decisions entrepreneurs must make based on what region they live in, what natural, human, and capital resources they have access to, and what global economic challenges they may face.

5th - JA Our Nation introduces students to business operations and economic issues in the United States.

6th - JA Global Marketplace provides practical information about the global economy and its effect on students’ lives.  

7th - JA Economics for Success explores personal finance and students’ education and career options based on their skills, interests, and values. It also demonstrates the economic benefits of staying in school.

8th -JA America Works provides students with examples of how business and entrepreneurship affected the economic development of the United States during the 19th century.  

High School Programs:

9th - JA Success Skills helps students identify and demonstrate the work-readiness skills needed to research, get, and keep a job and to develop innovative personal strategies to achieve lifelong learning pursuits and career opportunities. 

10th - JA Personal Finance introduces students to the importance of making wise financial decisions. The program demonstrates the importance of planning, goal setting, and thoughtful decision-making within the context of personal financial decisions.

11th - JA Titan introduces critical economics and management decisions through an interactive web-based simulation.

12th - JA Economics examines the fundamental concepts of micro-, macro-, and international economics.

Q & A:

Q:  What is my committment as a parent?

A:  We ask that students be checked in with a parent at Indiana Tech Campus, Andorfer Commons Building by 9:00 AM on June 13th. At check-in, you will fill out a contact card for your student with emergency information.  After check-in, we will have a short informational session for parents in the theater. We appreciate your support of this program by signing up to volunteer, however, if you are unable to volunteer, you are not required to stay on campus during the program. Students will be finished between 12:30 PM and 1:30 PM depending on the program, and will need transportation at that time.

Q:  What about lunch?

A:  Lunch will be provided for all students, volunteers, and their families in attendance - RSVP required. To ensure classroom volunteers have a break, we are looking for volunteers to help with lunch service. If you would like to help, please mark "yes" to the lunch volunteer question on the registration form.

Q:  How else can I get involved with JA?

A:  We are always looking for volunteers to teach classes for our traditional weekly in-school programs, as well as our other JA in a Day programs. JA BizTown and JA Finance Park are also always accepting volunteers for their one day programs. You can also participate in any of our fundraisers including our Business Drive, Bowl-A-Thon, Golf Classic, Adventure Quest, Online Auction, and others.
