Join scientists Barbara Brennessel, John Portnoy and Jackie Fouse to retrieve spat collectors in the Herring River Estuary and examine them for evidence of oyster settlement. The collectors were secured to the bottom at low tide in sections of the River to establish pre-restoration baselines for oyster settlement. Participants will hear about the environmental conditions that will allow for increased shellfishing activity when tidal flow is restored.
Limit 10 participants. Knee boots or waders recommended.
