About the Presenter

Brijin Gardner, LCSW, RPT-S owns a private practice, specializing in children and families, and she provides supervision and trainings in play therapy.  Brijin has worked extensively in early childhood, adolescent mental health and school-based settings.  Her current work with the University of Kansas and Children’s Mercy Hospital focuses on intervention development using Play Therapy and attachment-based treatments for young children and families at risk for toxic stress.  She a KSAPT past president, APT leadership grad, published author and keynote speaker for APT.

Workshop Description
Nonverbal approaches in Play Therapy help clients externalize trauma and revise stories.  This workshop will explore the influence of the neurobiology of Play Therapy and ways to create safety and containment when using Sandtray.  Participants will gain creative, diverse, and structured approaches to enhance the use of Sandtray in their practice.  We will explore implementation of Sandtray in groups, families and supervision.

Instructional Level: Intermediate

Audience Pre-Requisites: Working knowledge of the fundamental principles of play therapy, play therapy theory, play therapy applications, understanding of sandtray.

Groups of 3 or more persons may receive $10 off the registration fees if registered online two weeks before the workshop. Registrations must be submitted together. PAYMENT MUST BE RECEIVED BY 5/1/2019 OR REGISTRATION WILL BE CANCELLED 

Continuing Education
This workshop meets the qualifications for 6 hours of continuing education credit  per day for Psychologists, MFTs & LCSWs  and LPCC's.  The California Association for Play Therapy (CALAPT) is approved by the Association for Play Therapy to offer continuing education specific to play therapy (APT Approved Provider # 00-094). The California Association for Play Therapy is approved by the American Psychological Association (APA) to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. Psychologists may receive 6 hours of continuing education credit for this workshop.The California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) now recognizes APA continuing education credit for license renewal for LCSWs, MFTs and LPCCs The California Association for Play Therapy maintains responsibility for this program and its contents.  NO CREDIT FOR PARTIAL ATTENDANCE.

 
Cancellations and Refunds

Requests for refunds must be made in writing to the CALAPT, P.O. Box  12404, Newport Beach, CA 92658 or by e-mail: calapt@calplaytherapy.org.  Requests must be postmarked two weeks prior to workshop date in order to receive refund. There is a $25.00 administrative fee for refunds. No refunds for cancellations after the deadline.  There are no price breaks for partial attendance.
