PRACTICE Play: Using play therapy in TF-CBT and other trauma informed models
Presenter: Holly Willard, LCSW, RPT-S

Workshop Description
As play therapists, we need to be equipped and confident in dealing with trauma. Therapists have to be willing to go to the “dark places” with our clients, so they are not left alone in their suffering. Using the curative powers inherent in play therapy, we can help clients to heal and thrive. TF-CBT is an evidence based treatment model designed to help children, adolescents and their caregivers after trauma. The combination of play therapy and TF-CBT allows for clients to benefit from both models in a playful and supportive environment.

SATURDAY, June 29

All Aboard the Play Therapy Express! Using Expressive Arts in Play Therapy
Presenter: Holly Willard, LCSW, RPT-S

Workshop Description

The use of expressive arts in play therapy allows children and teens to explore and communicate emotions they are not able to verbalize. Expressive arts enable clients to be creative and imaginative, bringing awareness to the surface and awakening their inherent power to heal. The training will introduce numerous interventions that can be used in a variety of settings: individual, family, and group. Interventions will be taught using experiential and interactive methods, and participants in this hands-on training will be immersed in the creative process.
