Joy-Ann Reid
July 23, 2017

We all feel it: the palpable anxiety coursing through Democrats and Republicans alike as the gathering storm of a Constitutional crisis looms on the horizon.

We don’t know yet how Trumpgate or the administration’s contempt for democratic norms will shake out. But the political landscape already is engulfed in a funnel cloud that threatens to derail the framers’ carefully constructed designs to separate and delegate Federal powers.

The tribal partisan chasm over health care, tax reform and immigration already defines our increasingly bloody political discourse. But now it also is provoking questions of law and accountability and fracturing the very constraints that have controlled the American experiment for two centuries.

In the face of this brewing confrontation, Joy-Ann Reid, the MSNBC host and one of the country’s premier political analysts and commentators, will discuss the country’s crisis at the next “Conversation On the Green,” the interactive Town Hall series.

An author and historian, Reid also is an MSNBC host and a national political correspondent for the cable news network. She is the author of last year’s best-selling history “Fracture: Barack Obama, the Clintons and the Racial Divide,” an analysis of the recent history of the Democratic Party.  With E.J. Dionne, she last year also published “We Are The Change We Seek,” a collection of Barack Obama’s greatest addresses, beginning with his 2002 speech opposing the Iraq War and closing with his emotional farewell address in Chicago in January 2017.

Reid’s MSNBC program, “A.M. Joy”, is aired on weekends from 10 a.m. to noon. A 51-year-old graduate of Harvard University, she is intimately schooled in the nuts and bolts of politics. During the 2004 presidential campaign, she was the Florida deputy communications director for the 527 “America Coming Together” initiative and was a press aide in the final stretch of President Barack Obama’s 2008 Florida campaign.

A regular contributor to “The Daily Beast,” Reid’s columns and essays have appeared in newspapers and magazines around the country.
