Along with DPH and the input of CT Schools Indoor Environment Resource Team, DEEP produced the "Wastebusters", a Green Cleaning in Schools video so staff and parents would understand that they are not allowed to bring in non-green cleaners to schools. Prior to disseminating the video, members were surveyed about their experience with the prohibition of non-green cleaners. Almost 90% of the CT school facilities directors reported finding non-green cleaners like bleach in the classroom and about 70% found them in other areas of the school.
During the program the survey will be repeated with the facility directors since it has been almost one year since the video has been disseminated. This is one method for DEEP to see if it has made an impact on the amount of non-green cleaners being found in the schools. Also, the video will be shown with a discussion period and question answer period.
ECG Engineering, P.C. will introduce the concept known as Energy Savings Performance Contracting (ESPC). This has been utilized by various school districts, municipalities, and other government agencies to fund key facility improvements with guaranteed energy savings. The goal of this presentation is to familiarize you with the general concept/rules/regulations, introduce energy efficiency upgrades, and to demonstrate the best practices at each phase to ensure that your (ESPC) project is a success for your school district.
