The recently-released 7th edition of the Architectural Sheet Metal Manual (ASMM) includes code (IBC Section 1504.5) compliant fabrication and installation specifications for wind tested coping and fascia designs in Appendix L.
The IBC states in section1504.5 Edge securement for low-slope roofs. Low-slope membrane roof system metal edge securement, except gutters, shall be designed and installed for wind loads in accordance with Chapter 16 and tested for resistance in accordance with ANSI/SPRI ES-1, except the basic wind speed shall be determined from Figure 1609.
The current and previous edition, of the ASMM also includes a report for the testing of ridge, eave and rake installations for custom standing seam metal roofs. These included tests for static water penetration, dynamic water penetration, uniform structural load and deflection tests, and uplift tests per UL 90.
The SMACNA presentation will focus on how to specify and inspect that installed systems meet the IBC wind uplift requirements.
