The DOT Process Simplified for Electric Utilities
CEUs: 1.4 (PDHs: 14)

One of the most challenging aspects of a highway relocation project is the coordination of  communication and planning between the state department of transportation (D.O.T.) and Electric Utilities. Each state D.O.T. - as well as each Electric Utility - follows its own processes and procedures for relocations, creating much room for miscommunication and costly project delays. This two day workshop focuses on highway relocations and tips for navigating unique issues electric utility personnel face when working with state departments of transportation.

Attendees get an overview of the general DOT project process, and will also learn how to work with the DOT to:

• Minimize relocations
• Expedite projects
• Co-design for current and future cost-savings
• Minimize the cost of necessary relocations, and will learn how to read a set of DOT plans

Course handbook provided.
