We are only just getting to grips with supervision so why are we now considering supervision of supervision? In recent years many of the professional bodies have advocated supervision – the 2016 Global Code of Ethics states: ‘Members will engage in supervision with a suitably qualified supervisor or peer supervision group with a level of frequency that is appropriate to their coaching or mentoring practice’. While this position is not universal, the ICF, the largest coaching body, recently strengthened its position on coaching supervision, actively recommending it (ICF, 2017). In its “Supervision Guidelines” (EMCC, 2016) the EMCC recommends selecting a supervisor who is themself supervised.
There are more and more supervisors in the field because there is an increasing demand for supervision. Recent research suggests a large increase in the percentage of coaches who receive supervision though with significant geographical differences (Hawkins & Turner, 2017). Many of these supervisors also seek supervision as a reflective space to review their supervision work. It can take the form of individual or group sessions
The webinar will review our understanding of what is needed to supervise supervisors. It is as relevant for those thinking about what they want from a supervisor as it is for supervisors themselves.

About the presenter
Dr Michel Moral spent most of his career in an international environment as a manager and executive. At that time his activities were covering Eastern Europe, Middle East, and Africa, i.e. 124 countries. This helped him to become an intercultural specialist.
In 2003 he created a coaching and supervision practice and he coaches executives, executive teams, and organisations. He also trains coaches on team coaching in several French Universities, supervises coaches, and trains supervisors. He also participates in a Post Master Collective Intelligence curriculum at the French University of Cergy-Pontoise. He is the EMCC International WorkGroup leader for ESIA (European Supervision Individual Accreditation) and participates in many activities related to supervision and research. He holds a Master degree in Science & Technology and a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. He has published ten books related to management, coaching and supervision. He is an EMCC accredited Master Practitioner coach and an EMCC accredited supervisor.
