Growth, Infrastructure & Services

Chairman, Collier County Planning Commission

We all know Collier County is expanding. Mark Strain will be sharing where, why, and how that is happening -- including growth and build out data, recent developments that have entered into the process, housing information, planning and road corridors, re-development hot spots, where we stand in population and tourism and finally the reasons our area continues to grow.

Mark’s experience in construction, development planning and land use spans over 40 years, most of which has been in Collier County. Prior to working for the Board of County Commissioners, his career work included all aspects of the land use from feasibility, due diligence and land acquisition, complete project planning and permitting at all levels of government, managing the installation of miles of roads and infrastructure, and finally to vertical build out and turnover.

On 9-11-01 Mark was appointed to the Collier County Planning Commission. In 2005 he was elected Chairman and has remained in that position for the past 13 years. In the spring of 2013 Mark was hired as Collier County’s first Hearing Examiner working under contract for the Board of County Commissioners.
