BUSINESS OWNERS ROUNDTABLE

6 Sessions

Session 1:  Tuesday, September 23, 2014, 9 to 11 am
The following sessions will be Wednesdays on a 3-week interval.

Small business owners need a forum where they can explore common problems and learn from their peers and mentors.

SCORE NYC is continuing our popular Roundtable program designed to give business owners the opportunity to find solutions to problems that beset many small businesses: Problems that range from growing their customer base, managing their money and managing their time and key staffing and organizational challenges. In a series of five two-hour sessions you'll network with other owners of small businesses to share your problems and solutions to these issues and ones that you identify as a need for further discussions.

The group is limited no more than 15 participants to ensure that each participant’s topics are addressed. Our initial meeting will be used to introduce ourselves, our businesses and to examine our needs and expectations.

In order to ensure the best possible and experienced group, we are requiring an application process.  All interested parties please send a write-up describing the business and background. Must be in business for at least 2 years with a sustained revenue for this period. Please submit applications to weinstein@scorenyc.org by October 1.

Homework assignments will be generated for each subsequent meeting to prepare for the discussion and to gain relevant insights to the topic to be discussed. Outside resources may be brought in by both Score and the participants as well.

The meetings will be held monthly at same time and place and facilitated by the same SCORE Mentor each time. Additional Mentors may be brought in to add to the knowledge and experience base.

Topics will be selected as a group at the initial meeting and it is likely that will change as we go forward. Possible topics include:

  • Increasing revenue
  • Improving customer retention
  • Improving customer services
  • Managing and controlling expenses
  • Managing the business
