COCA's Trenching and Shoring Competent Person Training
Saturday, May 7, 2016

This class is currently scheduled for Saturday, May 7, 2016.  You may add this date to your calendar by clicking on the "Add to my Calendar" at the left.  ***************************************************************************************************************************
Open trenches continue to be one of the most hazardous jobs in construction.  Deaths attributed to cave-ins continue to be a major concern.  In order to help prevent these unfortunate occurrences, COCA, Inc., in conjunction with the American Allied Safety Council (AASC), powered by TekSolv, will be offering this one-day training.  This class will help in identifying the most obvious hazards associated with trenching.

Registrations will need to be completed through AASC/TekSolv, either via their website:  www.teksolv.com (for existing AASC users) or via a phone call to Tamara Walker at 618-344-1591 (for new AASC customers).

Instructors:  Ray Boehm, Safety Education Consultants; Rick Reams, American Allied Safety Council (TekSolv)

Training Location:  AmerenIP Service Center, 1050 West Blvd., Belleville, IL  62221 (click on the map to the left for directions).

Course Fee:  $225.00 per individual (includes all instruction and handout materials, breakfast and lunch buffet, break refreshments, and a certificate and wallet size card after successful completion of course).

CLASS SIZE WILL BE LIMITED TO 35 STUDENTS.

NOTE:  Due to the class size restriction and the high costs of instruction, we ask that all registrations be treated as a firm commitment.  No cancellations will be accepted, however, substitutions can be made at anytime if the individual(s) you registered cannot attend.  Please NOTE:  "No-Shows" will be charged as registered and attending.

Existing AASC users can register for this class by going to the American Allied Safety Council website at www.teksolv.com.  Click on the "To register..." button.

New AASC Customers will need to register by calling Tamara Walker (618-344-1591) at the American Allied Safety Council office.

The course will utilize a combination of classroom and "hands-on" instruction.  Attendees will learn how to install several different shoring systems, arrange spoil piles, identify soil types, and become familiar with OSHA regulations.  An operator will be on hand for live demonstrations, and several examples of trenches and spoil piles will be prepared in advance.

At the conclusion of the program, all attendees who successfully complete the exam will be recognized through the OSHA Outreach Program as a qualifed "competent person” and will receive both a wallet size card and a certificate suitable for framing.

We urge you to register as soon as possible.  If you need any additional information regarding the program, please contact the American Allied Safety Council office at 618-344-1591.  You may also contact Ray Wesley at the COCA office at 618-288-9434.  We appreciate your consideration in this matter.
