Adult ADHD Weekend Retreat

Dr. Nowell says

I fully believe that realizing dreams and living a fulfilled life are possible for someone who happens to have inattention, hyperactivity, and disorganization — if they have the right tools and are taught how to use them. While some of the cookbook-type recipes out there may be helpful, there is no "one size fits all" solution: Each person and situation is unique.

About the retreat

The Adult ADHD Weekend Retreat speaks to issues particular to adults who are impacted in any way by ADD/ADHD. This retreat is for you if:

  • You have ADD/ADHD;
  • Your spouse or someone you love has features of inattention and distractiblity;
  • You have ha child who has been diagnosed with one of these conditions.

Central to the retreat's focus is discovering what works for you, of finding the key that unlocks the mystery of your personal, individualized motivation. That key will empower you to develop strategies to successfully meet the challenges you encounter every day. As we look at strategies, you will customize your personal toolbox, moving from theory to practical applications that will empower you live the life that, for you today, might be just a dream.

Join us for this dynamic, interactive retreat that includes facilitated discussions, small group work, guided reflection, and, very importantly, lots of room for laughter. Come alone, with a family member, or with a friend. You will be among those who really understand the up-side and the down-side of living with the unique challenges of ADD/ADHD.

We will look at ADD/ADHD as it impacts your:

  • Relationships
  • Money management
  • Identity with others
  • Time stewardship/management
  • Ability to complete projects (e.g. "dropping balls")
  • Scatteredness
  • Boredom
  • Irritability
  • Feeling like you are living in a world of chaos

We will explore a variety of areas that impact you every day:

  • Nutrition and exercise
  • Schedule
  • Values
  • Motivation
  • Connections
  • Technology

David D. Nowell, Ph.D.

Clinician
Dr. David Nowell is a licensed psychologist specializing in clinical neuropsychology. He has been in private practice since 1999 and provides consultations to patients in rehabiliation and psychiatric hospital settings. Dr. Nowell also has extensive experience in psychological and neuropsychological evaluations and independent medical evaluations. One of Dr. Nowell's passions is the translation of neuropsychological and brain research to functional and understandable terms to solve real problems, whether for patients and families he sees in the hospital or outpatient setting or for organizations (e.g. insurance companies, schools) who refer clients to him for consultation.

Beyond the Clinical
Dr. David Nowell's expertise and experience enables him to offer unique programs that help to solve real problems that are not of a clinical nature. His EnCompass one-on-one workshop can help get your life back on course. Dr. Nowell's ADHD Mentoring program and his Adult ADHD Weekend Retreats are particularly helpful for those who are impacted in any way by ADHD. The goal of both programs is the same: to empower participants to discover how they can actually live the life that, for them, might be just a dream. In his Deep Happiness by Design workshop, which Dr. Nowell presents at Kripalu, participants are enabled to re-discover the true happiness we have deep within — and it is something our bodies already know!

International Speaker
Dr. Nowell's second passion is teaching. A gifted and inspiring speaker, he travels internationally presenting workshops. In addition to workshops for David Nowell Seminars, he is a featured speaker for PESI/CMI and, in Australia, for TATRA Corporate and Allied Health Trainings.

Dr. Nowell is a member of: The American Psychological Association, The Massachusetts Neuropsychological Association, the ADHD Coaches Organization (ACO), the American Academy of Clinical Neuropsycholgy (AACN), and the American Professional Society of ADHD and Related Disorders (APSARD).
