Poverty: Living with “Less Than Enough” 3 CEU's Pending

Area Agency on Aging Educational Webinar - 3 CEU's Pending

Description:

Recall personal experiences of living with "enough," "more than enough," or "less than enough." Emotions associated may include: shame, guilt, fear, powerlessness, rage, determination. Consider official definitions of wealth, middle class status, working class poverty or street survival. How do JFS clients meet steep expenses in your county? Let us avoid: "the violence of looking away."

Objectives:

  • Describe diverse personal experiences of economic well-being
  • Compare and contrast official definitions of economic status
  • Examine barriers to open communication about economic status
  • Develop an action-plan, whether grand or small to confront poverty in your community

Presenter:

Rita Rizzo has been training poverty topics for over 3 decades throughout the U.S. and Canada. She has presented the contents of this workshop for a large college in the Washington DC area where it was well received.

Views and written materials presented during this seminar are those of the individual presenter and do not necessarily represent the official views and/or options of the Ohio District 5 Area Agency on Aging, Inc.
