Recreational Marijuana

Wednesday, July 12, 2023

This program concentrates on the human and societal issues that are occurring in clinical and social settings because of the upsurge in recreational usage of high potency marijuana and marijuana products. With the state-led marijuana legalization effort, there has been a significant increase in the number of people (of all ages) that now consume some form of recreational marijuana on a regular basis. The marijuana that exists today, however, is far more potent and dangerous than anything we have seen in the past. Professionals need the latest information to monitor client responses and beliefs about this important issue in health care for all ages.

Objectives:

At the conclusion of the program the participant will be able to:

  • describe the various types of THC products and common methods of delivery or consumption.
  • outline the major neurologic effects of THC and potential effects of chronic use.
  • describe how changes in marijuana potency over the past century have affected resulting manifestations of use
  • list the effects of THC use various organ systems and motor vehicle accident rates.
  • summarize the most common adverse reactions and drug interactions involving THC.
  • identify most current data bases available to keep up with new and research based information
