Tom Michel, LACP
If You Do Not Change Direction,
You May End Up Where You Are Heading

Tom Michel is slated to be NAIFA's 131st President in 2020-2021.  He is currently a Managing Director with the Michel Financial Group in Los Angeles, CA.  In his 32 year career in the industry, he has had a wide range of experience from career agent to pension wholesaler and now agency management.  He partners with his wife, Kim, in their independent career agency where their broad approach emcompasses all insurance sales and investment advisor practices. Michel Financial Group was the first General Agency for Ohio National in California, and Michel is a registered Representative with O.N. Equity Sales company; he is also licensed in P&C.

In his career, Tom has garnered multiple awards, including GAMA Diamond Internaional Management Awards, top national pension producer awards, and his agency led his respective company multiple times nationally in sales.  He has been an active leader wtih NAIFA for over two decades.  He is a Past President of NAIFA Los Angeles and served six years on the board of NAIFA-California as both President and National Committeeperson.  He was the 2013 recipient of the Will J. Farrell Award for outstanding contributions to the industry and community. 

Michel is passionate about NAIFA advocacy; he was instrumental in working with key legislators and the Government Relations team in helping promote passage of NARAB II to help streamline agent licensing.  He is a recipient of California's Excalibur Award for IFAPAC lifetime excellence.

A native of Santa Monica, CA, he is a graduate of the University of the Pacific, active in multiple local organizations and is the proud father of T.J. and Marcus.

Jim Coyle is the Brokerage Sales Manager for the Dallas DI Center.  Jim has specialized in disability insurance, both group and individual, since entering the industry in 1993.  He started his career with The Paul Revere Companies and later served as the Regional Group Sales Manager in Dallas for both Union Central and One America.  He has been with The DI Center since 2006.  Jim graduated in 1993 from the University of Texas at Austin with a double major in Marketing and Psychology.  He has since earned the CLU, RHU and REBC designations from The American College.  He is a member of both NAIFA and SFSP.  Jim and his wife, Tamara, reside in Lewisville with their two children, Philip and Caroline. 


Mike Evans has been in the life and health insurance industry for over 38 years.  A native of Lubbock and a graduate of Texas Tech University, Mike began his specialization in disability insurance in 1987. Through the years, Mike has taught numerous LUTC and CE courses and has been a speaker at multiple state and local life and health underwriter meetings.  He is also a regular guest instructor at Texas Tech's nationally renowned Personal Financial Planning Department.  Mike recently joined The DI Center team where he continues to focus on partnering with financial advisors to protect their clients' most important asset, INCOME.  Mike is a career long member of NAIFA and serves on the NAIFA-Dallas board as Director of Planning; he is also a board member in charge of professional development for the Lubbock Area Association of Health Underwirters,  Mike and his wife of 40 years, Karen, live in Coppell; they have two grown children and four grandsons.
