Director, Veterinary Surgery Group
Ethicon
The program covers the basics of suture materials and why they are vital to uneventful surgical outcomes. We’ll review tensile strength and absorption times for sutures and why the surgeon should choose one type of material over others in specific cases. With new recommendations for antibacterial sutures from both the WHO and CDC, there will be information about Plus antibacterial sutures. We’ll also review needles and their proper application based on tissue type.
Finally, there will be discussion on selecting the correct sutures to inventory based on surgical mix and doctor preference. This will result in significant reductions in operating room cost and inefficiencies.
