C0001 Effective Networking Workshop - 10/10/19

One of the most effective tools in promoting your business is also the one that is most overlooked by entrepreneurs; we talk about expensive marketing campaigns, social media, advertisements etc., but the most effective tool is you, the entrepreneur!

Networking is defined as interacting with other people to exchange information and develop contacts. This sounds so simple, but how do you do this in an effective and efficient manner? Let’s face it, as an entrepreneur and business owner there are so many demands on you in the company, that going out and interacting with people may feel like a waste of precious time.

In this half-day work shop we will talk about how to network in an effective and efficient manner, how to find the places and events to attend, how to approach people and articulate your message, and how to develop and cultivate meaningful business connections.  We will also discuss social media, especially Linked-In, as a networking tool.

NOTE: By registering for this workshop, you agree to the following workshop refund policy.

Registrations are final. Prepaid workshop fees will not be refunded unless the workshop is postponed or cancelled by Washington DC SCORE. Washington DC SCORE reserves the right to postpone or cancel workshops and events due to inclement weather or insufficient enrollment. SCORE DC follows the Federal Government policy when it comes to weather closings, as communicated via OPM.gov Snow & Dismissal Procedures.

If the workshop or event is cancelled or postponed, registered attendees will be notified via e-mail and text.  Registration fees will be refunded in full.

Elma Levy is an entrepreneur who co-founded an IT Government contracting business, Dovel Technologies; Dovel began as a two-person business with the attic of her home in Bethesda as their corporate headquarters; the company has grown to a 750+ multi-division and $100+ million organization with headquarters in Tysons Corner and multiple locations.

She knows from experience how hard it can be to commit time and energy to networking when there are the multiple demands of running your company, and she knows the challenge of finding the ‘right’ events and places, making the small-talk in order to get a conversation going, getting your message across in an articulate manner, creating and cultivating a contact, and ultimately, solidifying a business relationship that works for you and your business.  She learned that, for the founder and entrepreneur, it is very important to work for your company, and not just in your company.
