The Latest and Greatest 2017 


The Latest and Greatest 2017 is an overview of 6 trainings that were originally presented at EMDRIA 2016. This concise, fast paced, all day training  meets on Friday, June 23rd in Orlando. You will have the opportunity to earn 6 FL 491 CEU's for the low price of $55, if regitsered early.

The following is our agenda for the day:

  • 8:30 am: Registration and Announcements
  • 9 am: Somatic and Energetic Resourcing and EMDR - presented by Debrah Goodwin (originaly presented by Debra Littrell, LMHC, LMFT, EMDR Institute Approved Facilitator)

Goals:

  • Participants will have a basic understanding of Somatic and Energetic Resourcing.
  • Participants will understand how Somatic and Energetic Resourcing can be utilized in Treatment Planning and with increasing client stability.
  • Participants will be given opportunities to practice with Somatic and Energetic Resourcing exercises 

 

Deborah Goodwin graduated from Rollins College and has a Private Practice in Maitland. She is a Certified EMDR Therapist and is currently working on becoming an Approved Consultant as a Consultant-in-Training. She works with children of all ages as well as with adults and families, specializing in Dissociative Disorders. She is a respected member of EMDRIA and of CFAMFT -  Central Florida Association of Marriage and Family Therapists where she served as President from 2011 through 2012. 


  • 10:05 am : EMDR & Mindfulness with Addiction - presented by Kitty Mendoza  (originally presented by Stephen Dansiger, PsyD, MFT)

Goals:

  • Understand the role Mindfulness plays in the treatment center setting & in personal contact.
  • Educate regarding the congruency between Mindfulness & EMDR in the treatment of addictions. 

Kitty Mendoza is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with experience working in Oncology and Hospice for 15 years before opening her own private practice. She has been practicing Mindfulness Meditation for 7  years and found it essential for stress management. She teaches it to her clients to use as a resource and enjoys sharing it with anyone willing to practice it.

  • 11:05 am: Death with Peace and Dignity: EMDR Therapy and the End of Life  presented by Regina Morrow Robinson -  (originally presented by Michael Keller MSW, LSCW EMDRHAP TrainerJim Reise MA, MFT Intern and Barbara Ganzel Ph.D., MSW)

Goals:

  • Explore how EMDR can be used in end fo life situations 
  • Explore settings, targets and clients EMDR therapy can be applied to.
  • Discuss how to foster positive templates to facilitate peaceful dying.

Reg Morrow Robinson Ed.S., LMFT, LMHC, NCC. Owner of Windermere Counseling. EMDR Institute Regional Trainer, EMDRHAP Trainer, EMDRIA Consultant, R-TEP/G-TEP Trainer, Gottman Level 3 trained, Emotion Focused Therapy for Couples trained. Greater Orlando Regional Co-Coordinator, EMDRIA Professional Development Committee member, Regional Coordinator committee member. CFAMFT former president. During my 29 years of practice, I have really enjoyed working together with other therapists to grow my community to be more resilient and connected. Working with individuals recovering from a variety of forms of trauma and helping to strengthen relationships are my primary areas of focus in my practice. I also enjoy providing EMDR therapy trainings and consultations at all levels.

  • 1 pm: EMDR and Ego State Works  presented by Bill Brislin (originally presented by Andrew Seubert, LMHC, NCC)

Goals:
  • Acquire an appreciation of self-states ranging from healthy ego-states through dissociated parts of the personality.
  • Learn methods for accessing and interacting with ego states.
  • Enhance ability to integrate AIP principles while considering multiple self-states.

Originally from Pennsylvania, Bill  Brislin, NCC, LMHC has been a therapist in Orlando, Florida for thirty years. He is an EMDRIA Approved Consultant, facilitates basic EMDR trainings, and is an R-TEP/G-TEP trainer – having provided the Orlando training in response to the Pulse nightclub shooting. Bill has a special interest in complex trauma and dissociation. He co-facilitates an advanced complex trauma consultation group which is open to distance learners. He is currently working with other local trauma therapists to create a post-graduate certification program in traumatology through Stetson University.

  • 2:05 pm: Cultural Competence and Healing Culturally Based Trauma with EMDR Therapy presnted by Kaley Sinclair Jiawon                              (originally presented by Mark Nickerson, LICSW)      
Goals:
  • Participants will learn how to integrate cultural competence into each of the 8 phases of EMDR therapy
  • Participants will develop skills to increase awareness of cultural identities and attributes
  • Participants will develop skills for identifying potential resources and targets within a cultural identity  

Kaley Sinclair Jiawon is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and a certified EMDR therapist.  She completed her Masters of Arts in  Counseling with an additional certificate in Family and Relationship Therapy at Rollins College.  She is a mental health counselor at Kids House of Seminole specializing in providing therapy to children and teens who are victims of trauma, abuse, neglect, and attachment injuries.  Her clinical specialties include working with complex trauma, dissociation, and relationship and attachment issues within cross cultural couples and families. 

  • 3:05 pm: Preparation for Adults with Attachment Trauma  presented by Sandra Stanford - (originally presented by Ann E. Potter, PhD)
Goals:
  • Define healthy and unhealthy attachment 
  • Define goals for understanding resource development 
  • Learn how to build a resource team for your client

Sandra B. Stanford, LMHC, has a heart for people who find themselves in hard situations. Because of this passion, she earned her Master’s Degree in Psychological Counseling from Palm Beach Atlantic University (Orlando campus). She currently is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor practicing at Charis Counseling Center in Baldwin Park and in a satellite office in Titusville, FL.(www.chariscounselingcenter.com). Sandra is certified in EMDR.  She and her wonderful husband, David, have been married since 1988. They have two precious adult children, Jonathan and Anna Beth and a son in love, Christopher, and a grand-dog named Sherlock.
