Objectives
1. Obtain tools to address obesity within the context of the Patient Centered Medical Home and “Meaningful Use”
2. List three of the Institute for Clinical Systems Improvement recommendations to health providers for the assessment of patient motivation and readiness to change related to the management of obesity
3. Describe the application of the Transtheoretical Model of behavior change for obesity in an adolescent population
4. Recognize that insulin resistance, in both advanced and subtle forms, is very common in a population of people who are overweight and find it difficult to lose weight
5. Identify the risk factors for the development and progression of insulin resistance
6. Know effective treatment of insulin resistance using diet, lifestyle changes, supplements and medications
