APWA Engineering Ethics Seminar & Lunch

APWA Engineering Ethics Seminar

Wednesday September 26th 2018 9:00-12:00 PM

On January 6, 2017 Governor Kasich signed House Bill 236 into law. Effective January 1, 2018 Ohio’s professional engineers and professional surveyors will be required to complete two hours of the 30 hour biennial continuing professional development requirement in professional ethics or rules relevant to the practices of engineering or surveying.

The Central Ohio Branch Chapter of the American Public Works Association is pleased to Present Desmond Cullimore, P.E., BCEE, with the law firm of Bricker & Eckler LLP.

Desmond Cullimore has practical experience in construction having worked as a contractor before becoming a Professional Engineer, a Board Certified Environmental Engineer, and an attorney. Desmond has more than 10 years of experience in the field of engineering prior to becoming an attorney, serving as a project manager in large scale construction projects and as an engineering manager for a public utility. Desmond works with engineers and architects, construction managers, and public and private owners on all phases of a construction project. Desmond’s legal experience includes litigation and transactional law related to project delivery methods, contracting, competitive bidding, prevailing wage, mechanics’ liens, warranties, defective design and construction, and environmental matters.

This seminar will present an independent overview of key ethics rules and regulations affecting professional engineers under Ohio law, with examples of what happens when things go wrong for professional engineers. Continuing education requirements for engineers will also be discussed.
