The Chicago Southland is building. Building stronger businesses through tourism. Building trails. Building sports complexes. Building meetings & conventions. Building restaurants and attractions. We are building beyond the cranes and bulldozers. We are building connections among our communities, physical and emotional. We build for each other, the region and for the future. Director Miller will talk about how IDNR and the Millennium Reserve are helping the Chicago Southland and others build our trails, our environment and our future.
Marc Miller was appointed director of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) by Governor Pat Quinn in February 2009. Upon his arrival, Marc immediately worked to re-establish professional management and science-based decision making to the agency. He also swiftly restored communication with the agency constituants and worked with a broad-based coalition of natural resources supporters to win approval of groundbreaking sustainable funding initiative for the IDNR.
During Director Miller's tenure, the IDNR has developed new programs for youth involvement in outdoor activities, provided increased public access to outdoor recration opportunites and advanced natural resources and recreation-based economic development and job-creation programs.
