A social Gathering of Glens and their admirers will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2010 in Barre, MA.  The Glen Gathering is FREE.  Food is pot luck.  There will be fund-raisers for Glen Rescue and the Gathering slush fund, including a 50/50 raffle and a silent auction of Glen memorabilia.

This year we also plan hands-on Grooming demos, Earth dog and Agility Workshops, and plenty of conversation about Glen of Imaal Terriers!  Our eye clinic this year will include our brand-new DNA test for Glen crd3 and a much-anticipated talk by the researchers who made it possible.

IMPORTANT:  In addition to registering for the Gathering on our web site below, if you want to have your Glen DNA tested at the Gathering for $90 instead of the regular price of $120, you need to sign your dog up online at Optigen.  (If your Glen has PRA, the test is free.) Sign up NOW, Sept 4 through Sept 18, and use the code GGX918 to get the discount.   Copy & paste this link to Optigen:

There will also be paper sign-up forms at the Gathering if you prefer, but remember to bring your dog's AKC registration and a copy of the latest eye exam results.

Please register online for the Gathering here.  It helps us to coordinate the pot luck lunch and the time needed for the the eye clinics and Earthdog & Agility workshops.  On Sept 12, will be sending an e-mail to people who have volunteered to bring the dishes we need to balance the pot luck lunch. Here's More Important Information about the Gathering:

  •  Your Glen(s)!
  •  A crate or X-pen for your Glen (so you can eat and they can chill out)
  •  A chair, and shade if possible
  •  An item for the Pot Luck lunch.  Please indicate the category of food you will be bringing when you register to attend the Gathering.
  • A grill will be available. Water and sodas will be available.
  • Checkbook and pedigree & registration information for the Eye Clinic
  •  If you are interested in grooming your Glen with the help of some of the knowledgeable people who will be present, bring grooming supplies and table (if possible).
  • Remember that Glens (like most terriers) can be dog aggressive. While your Glen may be very friendly, others may not be. Please be courteous and cautious when approaching other dogs, and keep your dog under control.
  • The above applies to any two-legged dependents in attendance too!
  • Flexi-leads are discouraged, as they require close attention on the part of the human. There will be many dogs present, things to see and do, people to meet, and distractions for us all... we feel that dogs under control on standard leashes (or in crates or X-pens) will create a safer environment.
  • Do plan to pick up after your dog! Thank you.
