Workshop-Parents Involvement in Special Services
Parents who have a better understanding of the special services process are better prepared to take an active role in their child's educational program. This workshop will provide families with an introduction to their rights and responsibilities as parents of children with disabilities, based on the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. Parents will discuss some of their dreams and goals for their children, gain knowledge about the special services process, and learn advocacy strategies. This workshop is for any parent with a child currently being served under special services, may be getting evaluated for special services, and even those parents that have a child having difficulty in school.
