NEFLIN Staff Development Interest Group: Gainesville 11/14/13 

Not finding time for training yourself or your staff? Tired of another webinar? Trying to keep up with new technology? Don’t want to re-invent the wheel?

All of these questions led to a lively discussion at our first meeting in May. A small, diverse group of public and academic librarians (and one professional trainer from the University of Florida) shared resources, institutional strengths, and some bumps in the road. At this meeting we will focus on compiling staff training resources and discussing a staff competency index. We will continue this discussion at our next meeting Thursday, November 14 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm at Alachua County Library District Headquarters Library in Gainesville.

We enjoyed the face-to-face aspect of meeting, even those who drove over an hour, so much that it was unanimous we wanted to physically meet again. But we don’t want to exclude anyone so we are setting up remote access, too. Next time we’ll also have computer access to display training modules and suggestions as we discuss best practices for staff development. Join us!
