Old Books - New Purpose! - NEFLIN (1/19/18)

What do all librarians have lots of?  Old books, of course!  Would you like to learn to creatively reuse your old books and make them into things of use and beauty?  In this program you will realize ways to recycle old books into fun crafts for all ages.  You will also make several artistic creations yourself to take home.  The next time you have a program to create, use your old books to your advantage!

Learning outcomes:

  • Participants will realize ways to recycle old books into fun crafts for children, teens & adults.
  • Participants will make several crafts themselves using old books and recyclable materials.

Traininers: Katherine Kastanis and Olivia Wilson

Olivia Wilson is the Head of Youth Services at Dunedin Public Library in Dunedin, Florida.  Her special interests are Early Literacy and assisting programming  librarians with crafting!  She has presented many FLYP programs for summer reading, other Neflin and Seflin courses as well as several FLA presentations.

Katherine Kastanis is the young adult librarian and young adult volunteer coordinator at Dunedin Public Library.  She has worked in public library youth services for over 10 years.  Katherine has presented numerous training workshops and webinars along the way throughout Florida. She is always looking for ways to increase teen and youth presence in her library and beyond.

Cost: NEFLIN classes are free of charge for Florida library staff.  Registration is required for all classes and NEFLIN members get priority.
