Basic Management & Leadership Skills - NEFLIN (3/21/18)

Building and leading a high performance team requires more than just cooperation, especially in today’s competitive work environment. It requires things like clear and concise forms of communication, exceptional listening skills, an understanding of group dynamics, effective leadership in general (Situational Leadership Model), and using practices like delegation for both increased productivity but also to grow employee skill sets. There exists a much higher likelihood that organizational goals will be attained by using these kinds of leadership and management strategies. So attend this course and gain insight into your leadership style or preferences, as well as learning about specific skills that leaders should be exhibiting.

Participants will be able:

  • To describe some basic principles of leadership, including power
  • To better understand the differences between leadership and management
  • To identify their own leadership preferences
  • To describe how the Situational leadership Model works, and how to apply the model at work
  • To describe the basic communication process and factors that affect the process
  • To identify ways to overcome factors that  negatively affect the communication process
  • To identify and describe active listening behaviors
  • To identify the benefits as a leader of effective communication practices
  • To describe how to  delegate effectively
  • To describe the various levels of delegation
