Technical Services Interest Group Meeting (10/23/19)

Meeting Information

For the last meeting of 2019, we have a special treat!  Please join us in-person on October 23, 10:00 am -12:00 pm at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University for a tour of the new library facilities and interaction face-to-face with the friendly Electronic and Technical Services staff.  Light refreshments will also be provided.

Have you ever wondered about why things are organized the way they are in a library?  Are you interested in increasing access to your collection?  Is your catalog as friendly as it could be?

When you hear terms like, RDA, Bibframe and linked data, do you get excited?

The technical services field has the opportunity to have significant impact on library data, now and in the future. Would you like to know more? Join the conversation @ the Technical Services Interest Group.

Interest Group Facilitator:  Tim Keller

Tim Keller is the Head of Cataloging and Metadata with the Hunt Library at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University after relocating from Ohio. I have a Masters of Library and Information Science and a MS in Information Architecture and Knowledge Management from Kent State University.  I began working in academic libraries as a graduate student at Kent State University and have worked in a variety of academic and special libraries over the past decade. My professional interests include changes in cataloging and metadata, linked data and BIBFRAME, user experience design for technical services and librarians, and social media.

Cost: NEFLIN Interest Groups are free of charge and are open to NEFLIN members only.  Registration is strongly encouraged.

A reminder and access information will be sent out one week before the meeting and one day before the meeting.  Please email register@neflin.org if you do not receive your access information.
