Meeting Information

In this meeting, we will be discussing issues and victories in teens services during a pandemic. We will also be discussing teen programming as our libraries, potentially, start to reopen. This collaborative meeting will give everyone a chance to gather ideas and discuss the current situations at our libraries and how we plan on moving forward!

Interest Group Facilitator:  Kendall McCurley

My name is Kendall McCurley and I am the Young Adult Librarian at the Clay County Public Library System. I have worked in academic and public libraries and with both adults and young adults. I started as the Teen Librarian at the Fleming Island Branch in January of 2019 and have now moved to a position that allows me to work with teens at all of our branches. I am in charge of programming for tweens, teens, and new adults at our library system and I assist with collection development in our YA departments. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in History from Auburn University in 2015 and my Master’s degree in Information Science from Florida State University in 2018.

I think teens are the most underappreciated demographic that the library serves. I am passionate about encouraging libraries to create spaces and collections that best serve them.

Cost: NEFLIN Interest Groups are free of charge and are open to NEFLIN members only.  Registration is strongly encouraged.
