Community Needs Assessment: Getting to Know Your Post-Pandemic Community - Webinar (12/07/21)

Refreshing Your Relationship with your Neighborhood

According to recent statistics for the state of Florida, 30% more families are homeschooling their children. In northeast Florida, the major food bank reports a 129% increase in the number of people served. Business columnists are predicting even more people moving to the state. Patients used to telemedicine services that were allowed during the pandemic are finding access greatly reduced after the expiration of a key executive order.  And a survey early in 2021 of nonprofits in the region documents the economic fragility of many charities, including those that relied in the past on senior volunteers.

What has changed temporarily and permanently for the people, communities, and institutions that your library serves? How can libraries keep up with those changes as people and institutions are impacted by shifting guidelines and new legislation? Yearly marketing surveys are not enough.

Topics include:

  • Reviewing old and new ways to sample data.
  • Collecting anecdotal and statistical data.
  • Partnering with key people and organizations to share insights.
  • Using other organizations’ studies to improve the questions to ask locally.
  • Increasing the frequency of reviewing the library’s strategic plan.
