Behavioral Health System Baltimore's Annual Gathering - The Power of Resilience and Recovery - will be held on Wednesday, December 4 from 8:15 am - 10:00 am.
This year's event, moderated by WBAL's Jason Newton, will feature three inspiring personal stories from individuals who use experience, strength and hope to promote resilience and recovery.
- Jabari Lyles, LGBTQ Affairs Liaison, Office of the Mayor - Jabari has over ten years of experience leading initiatives which emphasize his passion for community, education and social justice. He is dedicated to working towards the advancement of LGBTQ people, particularly LGBTQ people of color, LGBTQ youth and the transgender community.
- Latesha Higgs, Founder and CEO of the Diva Effect - Latesha founded the Diva Effect to empower girls and young women to be leaders by teaching them how to develop healthy habits of the mind, body, and spirit. She is also a public speaker and advocate for mental health with NAMI Baltimore's In Our Own Voice program.
- Arnold Ross, Vice President of Finance and Operations at BHSB - Arnold has more than 25 years in financial management for behavioral health nonprofits. He has been Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at BHSB for 5 years and served for 15 years as CFO of Baltimore Substance Abuse Systems (BSAS) before that. Arnold is passionate about this work because of his own experience in long-term recovery.
